OPC Foundation Releases Latest Compliance Test Tool

Dec. 14 2007 - Today, the OPC Foundation released the latest version of its Compliance Test Tools (CTT). Included in this latest release are:

• OPC CTT Common Modules 2.0.14
• OPC HDA 1.20 Compliance Test Tool 1.0.7
• OPC DA 2.05a Compliance Test Tool 2.0.18
• OPC DA 3.00 Compliance Test Tool 1.0.14
• OPC AE 1.10 Compliance Test Tool 1.0.13

The CTT has some very complex test scenarios thus in the past a lot of errors only occurred with certain servers or special test configurations. Unfortunately not all servers can be tested with all possible configurations. Sometimes companies had to wait for their next service release to be able to generate the encrypted files for the OPC Foundation. The concept now is to have one or more Pre-Release versions available so all open issues can be clarified before the next Service Release.

Compliance Testing is a process which verifies that an OPC product implements a specification properly by using a standard software test tool developed by the OPC Foundation. This test tool, called the Compliance Test Tool or CTT, is currently available for several specifications. Vendors can download the CTT from the OPC Foundation website and run the tests at their site. Company’s can then submit the encrypted files generated by the CTT to the OPC Foundation for inclusion in their catalog of OPC compliant servers.

The OPC Foundation Product Catalog will display the results to the public. OPC Users should look for OPC Server products that have passed the compliance tests for all specifications that the product supports and display the “Self Tested” logo.
