Demand for Vendor-Neutral OPC Training on the Rise in EuropeFebruary 5, 2008Edmonton, Canada, February 5, 2008 - OPC Training Institute (OPCTI) has had to react quickly to meet the growing demand from companies that are eager to participate in vendor-neutral OPC technology training across Europe. Benefiting System Integrators, Engineers and Process Control and Automation professionals, workshops sold out quickly in Oslo, resulting in a second session being added which sold out as quickly, as did a session in Amsterdam. OPC technology is a global industrial connectivity standard that enables process control and manufacturing applications to communicate with each other using an interoperable, reliable and secure connection. Interoperability is apparent due to support by over 3,000 companies with well over 15,000 unique OPC applications. As a result, most work environments host a multitude of applications created by a variety of vendors. Historically, vendor-hosted training opportunities generally focus on proprietary solutions only. There is an increasing awareness of the importance of trusted information sources that are vendor-neutral, emulating actual work environments. This provides immediately applicable knowledge to those that participate. Upon successful completion of OPCTI workshops, participants earn the Certified OPC Professional (COP) designation demonstrating proficiency with OPC technology, design architecture, and installations. (http://www.opcti.com/training/copdesignation.asp) "This level of interest in Vendor-neutral OPC training is a clear indication that the OPC community needs training that imitates actual working environments." comments Randy Kondor, President OPCTI. "We focus on delivering OPC education that is independent of any vendors. The Certified OPC Professional course supplies End-Users with the knowledge necessary to secure the success of projects that use OPC." There are still limited spaces available in workshops scheduled in Munich, Germany (Feb 7 & 8); Aberdeen, Scotland (Feb 14 & 15) and London, England (Feb 18 & 19). OPCTI recognizes the need to schedule additional locations in the near future to fill the obvious demand. All requests for specific locations will be considered.
